I'm new to the game. I learned about it years ago but only the hanger module was out back then so I just forgot about the game. Now that I've joined I've read a lot on various forums about it. But people keep on using terms like CCU and LTI and expressions like melting down a ship. So what do all of you mean when you say stuff like that?

There are links in the game's forum for new players and there are a couple on reddit. CCU is something in store under extras, Cross Chassis Upgrade paying a little extra to change your ship to a more expensive model, Life Time Insurance(LTI)is some thing that comes on new model ships before they are flyable, regular ship may only have a few months insurance or a couple years. Insurance gets you another ship if it gets destroyed in the Persistent Universe(PU)minus the upgrades you get for it. LTI is transferable in a CCU transaction to the newer ship which may have only had a couple months worth of insurance originally.

Hey! CCU is a Cross-Chassis Upgrade, which basically means that you're upgrading one ship to another ship. (ex: 325a to Avenger). However, you can only CCU to other ships that are flyable in Arena Commander (AC). LTI is life time insurance. Chris Roberts (CR), plans to have Star Citizen's ships work on a system of insurance whenever we lose a ship in-game. Basically, those who have LTI on their ships, will have it for free, for life. (It isn't a big deal, insurance will be very very cheap in-game as long as you have a steady income). Melting down a ship means taking a ship that you bought from the store, and 'melting' it, or transferring it, into the equal amount of currency that you payed for said ship. It isn't exactly a refund, but you can use that same currency to buy another ship, or get some UEC (in-game currency), or get some ship skins from the store. A good source of information for SC (Star Citizen) is www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen, if you are willing to sift through the shit that sometimes goes through there. Avoid the official RSI (Roberts Space Industries, the name of the website and in-game ship manufacturer) forums, unless you want to make some popcorn and look at the [concern] threads. As negative as some people may be, I assure you that the people that are passionate about a great space simulator/MMORPG outnumber them 10 to 1. If you share the same passion as many of us do (including myself) about SC, you'd want to keep up with RSI events and streams and stuff. The next event will be Gamescom 2015, which is on August 7th, 11am CST. Apparently they are doing a really big demo for multicrew and their huge 64bit world maps, and that information will keep us all on our toes until we reach the 7th. You might want to take a look at previous CIG (Cloud Imperium Games, the developing and publishing company of Star Citizen) reveals. They have a tendency to under-promise and over-deliver, as seen with the planetside/social module demo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-xvCg8CI9U) and the FPS demo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-xvCg8CI9U). Keep in mind that these demos are merely parts of the quality presentations that CIG delivers. Again, I emphasize my point that taking the time and looking at the presentations and streams/events that CIG puts out as a whole will be much more satisfying (and a lot more information as well). If you have trouble finding any of this, try that reddit site I sent you or just google it. You may be able to find different kinds of information and opinions about Star Citizen all over the internet, but none of them can accurately portray the enthusiasm and passion that CR has when he talks about the game. Check out the (official) news posts on the RSI site and the official SC youtube channel for new videos every week. Check out the ship commercials on the youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zG-82TakEqk), and the quality of the actual concept ship releases that they do on the website (ex: robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14801-Introducing-The-Genesis-Starliner). (By the way, a couple of months ago, a bunch of stuff got leaked out from one of the developers on accident. Some ship stuff that wasn't meant to be released. If you want to check it out, here's some links to some of it. Google the rest imgur.com/a/tGAxJ imgur.com/a/jWqCsThere's a sort of news show that the folks over at the different SC studios do called "Around the Verse'", (with Verse' meaning Universe) that delivers high quality information every Wednesday on a more official level. I believe on every Thursday, the devs get on cam for a more personal and more non-scripted show called "Reverse the Verse'". They usually answer questions about the game to satisfy the community, but they also can stray off topic of the game and talk about other games as well. It kinda reminds the community that the developers are real people, not just coding-robots hidden behind a forum username. Every Monday, one of the different 'teams' (producers, writers, artists, chairman) does a "10 for the [blank]". 10 questions picked by the subscribers (people who pay monthly or yearly or something like that to get access to a magazine (called Jump Point) about SC) are answered by the people who are actually making SC. There used to be this show called 'Wingman's Hangar', which is basically the same as Around the Verse' but with more talking instead of neat little segments. It's honestly one of the more iconic shows of SC, and the only reason it ended was because the main talkshow guy had to leave CIG. Really fun, and it's nice to see how SC progressed in it's more earlier days. You can actually see the studio changes it went through, from the first episode being a little tiny desk with two people in it and a camcorder stuck in front of them, and the last being a full on stage-set, set up like the stage from Saturday Night Live. Furthermore, there used to be a contest/competition thing called TNGS (The Next Great Starship), where groups of actual players would compete in building a ship that CIG would put into the game. It was fun because everyone was so divided about which ship was going to get the top prize, and even some people from the groups got hired into CIG because they were so talented. They might be doing something like that again, soon. Anyways, if you're into the lore (backstory) of Star Citizen, they also post daily lore stories on the site as well. Go to robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link and check ALL of the website's content out. If you aren't really into the story-ish stuff, and more into how the game's politics and stuff like that actually work, check out the writer's guide. I know it's old, and some of it may be changed in the future, but knowing the inter-workings of the UEE (United Earth Empire) and its history might be really helpful in-game. Start here: robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/spectrum-dispatch/12946-Writers-Guide-Part-OneI understand that you're sorta new, and you might not be aware of all the negative people and the things that they have to say about Star Citizen and the game itself, but rest assured that CR and the community manager (Ben Lesnick) are addressing and tackling these concerns head-on. Hell, they even did a special 10ftc (10 for the chairman) episode to include addressing these concerns. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1Mkcq160cE)One and a half hours long, while the typical 10ftc episode lasts 30 minutes. You should also see the forum post of Ben (https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/comment/5283349/#Comment_5283349) about his views towards these concerns. Also, a recent 'Letter from the Chairman', which is basically a blog post/newsletter written by CR himself, talking about whatever is relevant to the development of the game, and his passion towards it (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14839-Letter-From-The-Chairman) addressed the negative claims as, and I quote: "There are people out there who are going to tell you that this is all a BAD THING. That it’s ‘feature creep’ and we should make a smaller, less impressive game for the sake of having it out more quickly or in order to meet artificial deadlines. Now I’ll answer those claims in one word: Bullshit!
Star Citizen matters BECAUSE it is big, because it is a bold dream. It is something everyone else is scared to try. You didn’t back Star Citizen because you want what you’ve seen before. You’re here and reading this because we are willing to go big, to do the things that terrify publishers. You’ve trusted us with your money so we can build a game, not line our pockets. And we sure as hell didn’t run this campaign so we could put that money in the bank, guarantee ourselves a profit and turn out some flimsy replica of a game I’ve made before. You went all in supporting us and we’ve gone all in making the game. Is Star Citizen today a bigger goal than I imagined in 2012? Absolutely. Is that a bad thing? Absolutely not: it’s the whole damn point."
There are going to be times where the game is not going to be fun at all, however, because it's not really a game at all. Technically it's still in early alpha right now. Just, be patient, chat with some people, speculate with what you want to do with yourself and your aurora in the game. The game isn't going to be everything you wished for, but they certainly plan to push the boundaries of MMORPGs and develop stuff without a publisher that people would've thought was impossible to do five years ago. If you can't be patient enough for this game, come back in a year or so for a hell of a lot more content. Otherwise, lay back and watch the magic happen. Post your skype and I'll add you if you want to discuss/have any more questions. I don't bite.

That was a nice wall of text there that I'm not going to quote to save space, thanks. I'm not totally new, I've seen the persistent universe and FPS demos as well as some videos on the lore. I've read some stuff and seen that negativity. Reading the multitude of awesome rebuttals was quite entertaining. I'm very excited for this game and can't wait until I can actually play it. I mean, corrupt mercs, OPPF, the "Sacking of Earth", pirate wars, organized raids!! This game is going to be so much fun. Thanks for the links and for answering.
Do you have a roster sheet? I know there is a thread for it but beyond the individual posts there isn't a single data sheet in the thread(at least for me).

The ship roster sheet got pulled as I recall due to other organizations spying on us. I'm sure one of the higher ups has it floating around, somewhere.

That isn't exactly a good thing. Most of the stuff on the forum is conceptual, like the squadron thread and stuff. Even if someone does steal our ideas, the ideas themselves are likely to change anyway with the addition of Star Marine, Organization Update 2.0, Multicrew, and of course PU alpha/beta. Perhaps we should all get together and make a group on skype. We don't have to do calls, if anyone doesn't want to. Instant communication and privacy does seem beneficial to people within a syndicate.

Oh god I remember that roster...everything was going great but as we grew bigger...and BIGGER with more and more affiliates and redacted members it just slowly became impossible to keep it out of the hands of people who shouldnt have it. I fully support a roster for all of the FULL members of RDCS but I do think it should be contained between the Heads and such. Speaking of Heads and everything really theres a lot of talking and discussing that needs to occur to figure everything out. Ive been gone for....hell...I dont even know how gone so I cant really remember many of the plans that we once had.

That's what I am hear for Unholy. I know what we had planned, however we may need to scrap some of it and focus on main members of RDCS.. I do not like all the affiliates or redacted members. I kind of feel like either you are a member or you aren't, simple as that. There will definitely be some major overhauling soon. An as far as operations and plan for the ORG I definitely see sneaky ghost joining our ranks soon as the PU gets ever closer to being released. I still talk to Simon every once in a while and I feel like it will be mutually beneficial to have them come over as well as make RDCS a member only ORG. No affiliates, no redacted, only full time members.
