Alright so after viewing most of the posts here on the forums I am officially confused.

I'd like to know what means of communication (forums, ts3, skype, etc.) we have as an org. to communicate with?

AND I'd also like to know what everyone prefers when it comes to communicating?

I like the way Overwolf works ingame so TS3 for me.

For VoIP TS wins all the way.

But I would choose "other" for my second option, and IRC would be that. IRC is safe, private, and a great way to move ideas and normal chit chat around very fast. What we are missing right now is community, people are only staying for a game that is not out yet, but we need to keep old and new users grappled into the community, so they want to stay.

Skype is not safe to use, many advertisements and anyone and their mum can use an IP resolver.

IRC promotes instant and fast chat, that can easily turn into normal conversations, and let people know more about each other, or quickly talk about interests. Therefore keeping the community aspect, and making users stay.

Teamspeak is good for when we're in a squadron, chasing down traders and destroying rival org ships. When we're boarding a station, all you need to do is press the PTT button to instantly communicate with your teammates. I respect TS3 and I am more than willing to use it when we are at that point as a syndicate (when PU comes out).

However, you must consider the situation we are in right now. Skype is much better for allowing communication over time, and more effectively than TS3. Chatting in TS3 is at a minimum, and you can't call over IRC. Skype easily recognizes and supports both ways of communication. Allows easy file sharing. Easy to use interface. You can enable PTT on skype as well, even though it'll be mainly used for casual conversations (at least that's the way I see it, we'll use TS3 when things get more serious).

If you guys intend for us to grow together as a syndicate, there must be an easy pathway of communication, and a private one at that. You might say skype is unsafe, but I do not see myself using an IP resolver against any of the members here, lest being kicked and shunned from the syndicate. You can run skype through a proxy, if you want, as I'm pretty sure that will prevent the IP resolver from actually finding your IP. Also, I don't get any advertisements besides on my home page, if you consider "finding facebook friends" an advertisement.

I'm not trying to start a flame war between which communications program you prefer, but IRC and TS3 just aren't made for casual conversation/group bonding like Skype is. That being said, I must emphasize again that I am willing to use TS3 when we do more syndicate things like stated before. Let's grow as a syndicate, learn and trust one another, and naturally the team building skills will follow. We already have a (unofficial) RDCS skype group, four members including myself. I guess we can always re-evaluate when the PU comes out.
